8M & I Community Project Presentations

Following on from the previous week’s service project presentations, from the 15th to the 17th of April, the 8th grade had their chance to enlighten their classmates, teachers and parents with their projects, the primary aim being to benefit the community. The subjects covered, again transversed a vast array of issues: global warming, homelessness, animal shelters, muscle regeneration in space, healthy eating, and anxiety disorders amongst many others. The presenters proved themselves to be very competent and dealt deftly with challenging and articulate questioning from those gathered in attendance, who will surely contemplate in depth the many issues raised.

On Wednesday, 17th April, pupils from our kindergarten and grades 1, 2 and 6 went to see a puppet show performance: Korenčkov palček at the Mini theatre in the centre of Ljubljana.
We took a bus to the performance and enjoyed the sights of Ljubljana in Spring as well as having the chance to be the audience of a really nice performance.
Grade 6 pupils also conducted an interview with the actor in the show, as part of their interdisciplinary unit on puppetry.

4M Cultural Day & Guest Speaker

On April 11th, 4M students went on a cultural day visiting churches and religious centres in Ljubljana. We started our day by visiting the Islamic center where we had a presentation and discussion about the Islamic faith. The second stop was the catholic cathedral in the centre of Ljubljana, where we learned interesting things about the catholic religion, and saw the outside and the interior of the cathedral of saint Nicolaus. The last stop was the Buddhist center, where we were introduced to the core of Buddhist beliefs and tried some meditation techniques.
On Friday we continued with the religious topic by having a guest speaker, Mrs. Manček, who introduced Hinduism and also the country of Nepal. Students learned some interesting facts and could also see and touch several items specific to the country of Nepal and Hinduism in general.
