On Friday 22 April, students of PYP Grade 1 – Grade 5, had a science day, which theme was celebrating EARTH DAY. They explored how to REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE waste. It was a productive day that ended not only with new knowledge and findings but also with the cleanest lockers, classrooms and hallway ever.

On 23 April, more than 100 countries worldwide celebrate World Book Day. To encourage students to read for pleasure in and out of school, alone or with family and friends, we dedicated some time to celebrating in our school as well. Students from 6m delved into the wonderful world of Roald Dahl. Meanwhile, 7m students researched books that represent their various cultures. And students from 8m and 8i discussed the everlasting importance of Animal Farm by George Orwell. As the World Book Day organisation says: “Our mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.” Therefore, we encourage you to join our celebration by borrowing or buying a book and dedicate some of your time to reading for pleasure, especially outside in the wonderful days that are upon us.

The Citarum River in Indonesia is the world’s most polluted river. One of the leading polluters is the fashion industry: 500 textile factories throw their wastewater directly into the river. The filmmakers teamed up with international scientists to investigate the causes and consequences of this pollution. Here is a report written by Maria Magnus.
On Wednesday, 20 April, the Kindergarten students visited the Natural History Museum of Ljubljana. We saw many interesting things, but the best part was the big mammoth skeleton.
