5M Field Trip Kavka – Day 4

Today was a very good day. We had a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the morning we were working on the PYP exhibition and we had a big break in between. Later, we went outside to play in the playground and in the end we were looking for a lost ball. Then it started to rain. We went inside and drew pictures for souvenirs of us. After, in the evening we phoned our parents. Later, before going to sleep we were dancing and having fun playing UNO and board games.

5M Field Trip Kavka – Day 3

Today we woke up and got dressed. We ate breakfast and played a lot of table tennis. After that we went for a hike, we went to an outdoor museum that was on a hill called “Nagnoj”. We also past the border into Italy and stayed there to eat snack. We learnt some facts about World War I and we saw different animals. Then we came back and ate lunch. We went upstairs to have fun. Then we came down to do our PYP exhibition. After we had dinner and it was tasty. Later we had some free time and we had some games. Finally we had a super disco, after we went to shower and went to talk with friends. At the end we went to sleep!

Erasmus Austria Trip – Day 3

We spent the day at Cap Woerth facilities by the lake. The focus was research on the causes and solutions to reduce the impact of climate change on the environment. Part of our day was spent debating about the human impact on the environment and we also set aside some time for sports activities. It’s been a busy day.

COOKING COMPETITION ZLATA KUHALNICA

On Wednesday, 22nd May, some students took part in the cooking competition, Zlata Kuhalnica, which was organised by the Ljubljana High School of tourism. They prepared fried chicken, roast potatoes and pancakes au gratin. It was challenging, but they enjoyed it and the taste of the food was delicious.

3M Science Day – The Brain

On Tuesday, 22nd May, we had a science day. We were talking about the 5 senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. We worked in groups and went to different stations where we did various experiments, including putting a blindfold on and doing a taste test with different types of fruit, and a hearing test with different musical instruments. We were also talking about how sense limitations can affect people’s lives.

5M Field Trip Kavka – Day 2

In the morning we had exercise, it was fun.We had chocolate spread for breakfast and it was so good. Some of us, after breakfast, went to play table tennis. Then we worked on the PYP exhibition. We went out at around 16:00 and built some tepees, tents and shelters. We also learnt a lot about different survival techniques. We discussed about having a movie night and our teachers surprised us with a movie. We were so happy. Around 22:00 we went to bed and sleep because we were so tired.

Erasmus Austria Trip – Day 2

Today, we spent the day in an Adventure park where students tried their courage on the high ropes in the forest. On the pictures are our boys. They were very brave and skillful when climbing, taking the most difficult paths. After lunch, we took a boat ride on the Ossiacher See. We had a fun filled day.

5M Field Trip Kavka – Day 1

We arrived in Kavka and we got a lot of warm feelings. The rooms are big and comfortable. The food is also good and tasty. We did not forget about our PYP Exhibition work. We were doing archery and most of us were confident at it. We are looking forward for more fun activities during this week.

Erasmus Austria Trip

Danila Kumar students have safely arrived in Austria for their visit. The first day was quite eventful as we had a guided tour of Velden, ice-cream, and presentations of our work in the school. Looking forward to tomorrow’s field trip.

Moro Foundation Contest Winners

“No Bees, No Life.”
We are proud to present the winners of the Moro Foundation Contest that took place on April 24th in our school. Once again, we gratefully thank the Moro Foundation for making our event possible. Many students from both departments decided to share their creativity with us, which later made it hard for us to choose the winners among these great products. In different age groups, the students created poems in connection to our most important animal species, bees.

4M Cycling Sports Day

4th grade students had a cycling day. The policewoman checked their bikes and they went through the obstacle course that required great biking skills. All students were successful.

PYP Challenge of Inquiry (1 & 2M)

On Friday, 17th May, Students from grades 1 and 2 had the challenge of inquiry. Grade 1 had interesting topics about plants and grade 2 had the topic of rocks and minerals. In the first lesson parents came and listened to all the presentations. After the main break students from grades 3, 4 and 5 came and listened and observed all presentations.

Students’ Article Published

Two of our 8th grade students, Val Enej Jenko and Nikita Arefyev, had an interesting article about How to increase youth turnout at the European elections published in Ljubljansko glasilo. PYP Challenge of Inquiry (3, 4, & 5M)

On Thursday, 16th May, Students from grades 3, 4, and 5 had the challenge of inquiry. Grade 3 had interesting topics about optical illusions, grade 4 had the topic of world religions and grade 5 had a topic about paper aeroplanes. In the first lesson parents came and listened to all the presentations. After the main break students from grade 1 and 2 came and listened and observed all presentations.

2M Science Day – Rocks & Minerals

On Thursday, May 8th, the 3M Students were experimenting with various rocks and minerals. This included observing and grouping them, as well as testing how they can change.

Year 8 Klagenfurt Trip

On Friday, May 10th, our pupils took a trip to Klagenfurt together with the students from the national department. They visited Affenberg (Monkey Mountain), where they witnessed Macaque monkeys closer than they have ever experienced. This was followed by a visit to Minimundus (miniature world) where they viewed famous buildings from all over the world, at the scale of 1:25. The day finished in Klagenfurt city centre where the students had a quick tour of the most famous sights. They enjoyed nice weather and spending time together.

3 & 4M Cultural Day – The 13th Biennale of Slovenian Illustration

On Thursday, May 9th, The pupils of 3 & 4M were given the opportunity to step inside the creative and diverse world of Slovenian illustration with the 13th staging of the Biennale (Biannual), which honours the finest achievements with awards in the name of Hinko Smrekar, a famous Slovenian illustrator. The event brought together and celebrated a host of young and old illustrators whose inspiration was as wide and varied as the numerous techniques they employed. The students were given worksheets to complete which navigated them around the exhibition with the help of a very informative guide. The artwork stirred and animated the students, who surely gained incentive and inspiration for illustration from their experience.
