The Final Event
On the 21st of June, the Final Event was held for the international department. Each grade from kindergarten to 7M, summed up what the school year meant to them through a variety of different performances, including rap battles and nursery rhymes, to name but a few. The show got under way with drummers from the extracurricular activity, was interspersed with modern dance performances and a trumpet solo, with the denouement being a song by the choir. There were also awards given for the Moro contest: Noise Pollution winners.

Valeta & Farewell to Grade 8 Students
Thursday, 15 June 2017 was their last day at Danila Kumar International School. This was the biggest generation finishing their education at our school ever. Our kindergarten and grade 1 students escorted them from our school with singing and greetings.

Joint International 8th & National 9th Grades Sports Day – Bohinj
On Tuesday the 13th of June, the international 8th and national 9th grades had a joint sports day in Bohinj. There were a selection of activities including the Adrenalin Park, cycling, canoeing and climbing. The students and teachers enjoyed the fun activities in the glorious surroundings and warm sunshine.

PYP & 6 & 7M Joint Sports Day with ISC School, Corinthia, Austria
On 13th June our students had a joint sports day with ISC School form Corinthia. We have already established a tradition of joint collapsed days and the success of this one was no exception. PYP students had a splash in Atlantis Swimming Centre and Adventure Park, while MYP students enjoyed a friendly competitive spirit playing baseball at Ježica Baseball Centre.
Kindergarten Art Workshop
K1 children created different arts and crafts on 8th and 9th June. They made a fish collage, modeled clay, coloured fabric bags and drew with chalk.

4M – Ancient Emona
Grade 4 had a cultural day on Friday, 9th June. We traced the path around the remains of Ancient Emona, modern day Ljubljana. We walked by the Roman wall, visited an Emonan house, in which we saw how Emona’s heating worked, and went to the Early Christian Centre, where we located Emona’s first baptistery, and had a sneak peak of what life was like in Roman Emona.

The Talent Show
On Thursday, June 8th, students of the Slovenian and International Department took part in the Talent Show. They danced, sang, and played the piano..some of the performances were really interesting. Congratulations to all!
Notice for Parents – Soccer Academy
END OF FOOTBALL SEASON
We would like to inform all parents and players of Danila Kumar soccer academy that training will end in the last week of school: 1.group (5. – 8.g) in 3.group (K1 -2.r) – Wednesday, 21. 6. 2017, 2.group (3. – 4.r) – Thursday, 22. 6. 2017.
There will be no training in July! The football season will start again in August (team U8 in U10 – 23. 8. 2017), we will inform you about the schedule.
APPLICATION OF TEAMS FOR COMPETITION IN 2017/2018 SEASON AND REGISTRATION OF NEWS PLAYERS:
We are informing all parents that players who want to take part in the MNZLJ league have to be registered in the Football Federation Slovenia. That is why we would like you to bring/send the following items in the international office or to coaches as soon as possible:
- Photocopy of ID (passport or ID card)
- Signed consent form to register a player
- Copy of health insurance card
- Newest photo (not older than two months) for all players who have not taken photos at the club.
Museum of Illusion Visit – K2
K2 students had a science day at the museum of illusion on Thursday, 8th June.

Ljubljana Zoo Visit – 2M
On Thursday, 8th of June, 2.m students had a science day, they visited the Ljubljana ZOO. They had the opportunity to see and learn about many interesting animal species.

Spring Run, Tivoli Park
Kindergarten students took part in the Spring Run in Tivoli Park on the morning of the 6th June. They enjoyed the warming up exercises with the Duck and were very successful while running among other students. One of the K2 girls got second place in her category, congratulations!

Day Four:
Again we spent a lovey day with two birthday celebrations. They were both woken up by a Happy birthday song. After lunch they tried orienteering and they had to walk on a path blindfolded. We finished the day with a party.

Traditional Singing of Dan Ljubezni (Day of Love)
All students of Danila Kumar International School and Osnovna šola Danile Kumar joined in singing a popular Slovenian pop song Dan Ljubezni – The Day of Love. It is a tradition in Slovenian that is sung publicly in institutions, streets and squares every 23rd May (on the Slovenian Day of Love) at 18.00.

All our grades will be photographed on Thursday, 25 May. Grade 1 & 3 students, who have a swimming course will be photographed after lunch from 13.30 to 14.15. Please do not pick them up before 14.5.
If you do not want your child’s photos and texts to appear in the yearbook, please contact us by Wednesday, 24 May.
There is still time to order yearbooks, please do it by Monday, 29 May.
INQUIRY ABOUT ACCOMMODATION
A Chinese landscape architect will be on a study assignment in Ljubljana from September 2017 to January 2018. Her daughter will attend our school, she is 5,5 years old. They are looking for accommodation and would like to stay with one of our families. They need a room with a bathroom.

International Day in Camp Šobec
On Sunday, 21 May our school community: students, their families and teachers had a wonderful sunny and active day in Camp Šobec. The PTA, our school and The Moro Foundation prepared a music and dance performance with a quiz, fun run, archery, face painting, football, rafting and zipline. There was also a lot of excellent food and drinks prepared by parents.
