MYP CULTURAL DAY – RTV SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SLOVENIA MATINEE – From Baroque Opera to Musical Comedy
On Tuesday the 4th of April, the MYP students had a treat, a musical cultural day in the magnificent Gallus Hall of Cankarjev Dom. The RTV Symphony Orchestra gave a selection of music transcending genres entitled, “From Baroque to Musical Comedy”. Beforehand, the students had workshops on concert etiquette, in which they prepared posters, rubrics, comics and short plays, to prepare them for their day. The students were enriched by their classical music experience, and gave a rapturous applause at the finale. Congratulations to the orchestra. A fine day!
Soccer Academy Anouncement

The match against ND Bravo, which should have been played next weekend, will be played this Tuesday, 4 April at 17:00 at the sport park Ljubljana (ŽAK). If you choose not to participate in the game, you can leave your child in training, which will be held at the school according to the regular schedule: 15:30 to 17:00 under the guidance of the coach Uroš. MYP 2 & 9th grade Slovenian Dept. Joint Science Day – Postponed
Due to Illness, the MYP 2 & 9th grade Slovenian Dept. Joint Science Day has been postponed, and will take place on another day.
Digital Dementia Presentation
The Digital Dementia presentation on Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th of March at 16:00, will be in the auditorium and not in the homeroom classes.
Community Project Presentations
Last week grade 8 students successfully finished their community projects and presented their work to other MYP students, teachers and parents. The process lasted for a few months and the students investigated the various needs of the community and tried to make a difference with their actions (raising awareness, organizing workshops, organizing collapsed days, interviews, lessons, etc.). Congratulations to all students. We were impressed!

5M Cultural Day – International Centre for Graphic Arts
On Tuesday the 14th of March, Grade 5 students had a Cultural Day in the International Centre for Graphic Arts in Tivoli Park. They had a demonstration of the silk printing graphic technique, a guided tour of the Fanzines exhibition and a workshop where they created their own fanzines. The weather was gorgeous, so we spent the last part of the day outside in the sun, and reflected of our field trip. An excellent day!

KRAPINA VISIT WITH STUDENTS FROM MATIJA GUBEC INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, CROATIA
On Thursday, 9th of March, students from grades 5-8 and 33 students from the national department joined with our friends from Zagreb to visit Krapina, a renowned pre-historic site that is the home of the Krapina pre-historic man. We visited the pre-historic museum, a gallery, had a great meal at a wonderful restaurant and spent time with our friends from abroad.

Likfest Exhibition
On Tuesday, March 7th, grade 1 students and members of the Crafts around the world club participated in the opening ceremony of the Likfest exhibition. The headmistress Mrs Mihelic and the head of the department Mrs Steblaj, attended the ceremony too.

Soccer Academy Notice For U9s & U10s
Drums Extracurricular Activity 5th to 8th Grades
On Thursday the 9th of March, the school will start a new extracurricular activity – Drums. However, we won’t be playing with conventional drums, we will be using general household items such as tins, buckets and whatever else we can get our hands on. We hope to prepare a performance for the month of May. For all those interested please come to room 373 at 4 pm on Thursday. International students will start the following Thursday.

Sound & Energy – Science Day in Grade 4
Grade 4 students had a music science day on February 23. They had a workshop in school as part of their current Unit of Inquiry. This time the focus was on sound, the energy of sound and sound waves.
In the first lesson they had to recall all the phases of scientific method, how to do an experiment, record the results and plan their work. In the next two hours they had to conduct at least two experiments with sound. To finish, they presented their experiments and their group findings to each other.
The teachers are sure that students had a great day.
Dragon Carnival – Pust, Ljubljana
On 25th February the Slovenian and international students of Danila Kumar School took part in the Ljubljana Dragon Carnival. They dressed up as “Krojacek Hlacek in veseli gumbki” (the Slovenian literary hero, Taylor Krojacek Hlacek with happy buttons as his companions). It was a day of fun!

On Friday, February 24th, grade 1 students had an in-school sports day. Although only 9 students came, they had a wonderful time playing cooperation games.

On 15th February our MYP students went on a winter sports day to Kranjska Gora, Planica & Bled. The weather was fantastic and students enjoyed themselves in different activities. You can see more in the pictures.

Festival “Igraj se z mano” at Cankarjev dom
As part of the action component of their community projects, 5 students from grade 8 took an active part at the festival for children with special needs on February 14. They prepared a handicrafts workshop in the spirit of Valentine’s day and a memory game for learning English vocabulary. Well done, Aleksandar, Mei, Ana, Betul and Mauro!
