4M Science Day – Energy
On Friday the 10th of February, 4M had a science day connected to their current unit of inquiry – Energy. They carried out a variety of experiments associated with wind energy, solar energy, hydro power and coal. They come up with hypotheses, tested them, then drew conclusions. They thoroughly enjoyed their day.

The Talent Show Part 2
On Thursday the 9th of February, The second part of the Talent Show took place. There were many different types of acts including, hip hop dancing, Russian and Turkish songs, and also tricks with a Rubik’s Cube. The participants and the Audience alike, had a great time!

The Talent Show
THE WORLD SCHOLAR’S CUP, LJUBLJANA ROUND 2017, DANILA KUMAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Our school hosted the 3rd Ljubljana Round of the WSC on Saturday, 28th January. The event started at 7.45 and finished at 22.15. It was a very exciting event for around 300 students and 100 mentors and staff. This year’s theme was An Unlikely World and the subjects were: Art and Music, Science, History, Literature, and Social Studies. The students competed in 4 disciplines – team debates, collaborative writing, scholar’s bowl and the scholar’s challenge.
Our students were very successful. Congratulations!

Regional Student Council
The 26th of January marked our annual hosting of the regional student council. Representatives and their mentors from schools all over Ljubljana joined debates about the future of the youth. They discussed virtues, morals, fears, hopes and planned how they can contribute to a more positive and fruitful society. Two students from the international department proudly represented the PYP and MYP. Congratulations!

6M Winter Field Trip
Thursday, January 12th
Another fine, sunny morning and another great skiing day. We have tried all the ski lifts and ski chairs. After a delicious lunch of Spaghetti Bolognese we set off for the Tamar Valley. In the evening we had a talent show with a dance.
PS: All the rooms were tidied, beds made and clothes on the shelves every day. Excellent!
On Friday we’ll see you in Ljubljana.

4M – Action Art
On Tuesday, the 10th of January, 4M had an action art lesson. The students first learnt a little about Jackson Pollock, an exponent of action painting, also known as abstract expressionism, then they were let loose on their canvases. The students explored many different techniques, tools and ideas, when putting paint to canvas. They were thoroughly engaged and focused on producing high quality abstract forms full of vivacity and personal expression, and the results were impressive indeed!

6M Winter Field Trip
WEDNESDAY 11th January 2017
We woke up in a winter fairy tale. It was sunny and wonderful. Skiing in Kranjska Gora was fun. In the afternoon one group tried cross country skiing and the other went on a hike to Zelenci natural park. We enjoyed ball games in the evening.

6M Winter Field Trip
On Monday January 9th we arrived in Planica. We unpacked and had lunch. After lunch we checked our ski equipment and went to Kranjska Gora to ski. We are divided into 4 groups. Even the beginners went down the slope for the first time. Bravo!

WSC – Ljubljana Round
Dear students and parents,
In October, we started with an extra-curricular activity – lessons for the World Scholar’s Cup Regional Round, which will be once again hosted by our school on January 28th, 2017. The World Scholar’s Cup takes place annually in the form of regional and global rounds hosted by schools from different countries. Each year, its participants tackle six subjects collected under an umbrella theme.

WINTER FIELD TRIP AND SKIING COURSE IN PLANICA 2017 FOR 6M
Monday, 9 January 2017 to Friday, 13 January
Our grade 6 students will spend 5 days in Planica enjoying skiing and other winter activities. They will leave on Monday, at 8.30 a.m. from the TUŠ car park and return on Friday, 13 January, at around 4 p.m. For grade 6 students who will not go to Planica, the programmes will be organised according to their timetable.
