3M – Architecture Design Workshop
On Tuesday, 12th February, 3M very happily accepted a gracious invitation from an architect to come to his office to learn more about architecture, as part of their current unit of inquiry about buildings. The architect gave a briefing about architecture, and invited questions from the students. Following this, there were some videos showing how architecture is born from nature, and a discussion, accompanied by a gallery, about the history of architecture going back to the very basics of house design, which are still prevalent in many parts of the world today. The pupils were then set a task, to design and plan their dream houses. There were many original, abstract and creative ideas including, many swimming pools, shops, and a Llama City. The students and teachers alike, had an extremely enriching and informative experience.
Thank you for a wonderful day!

3M Science Day
Dear parents,
Instead of having our Cultural day on Monday in School, Grade 3 students will have their Science day on Tuesday, February 12th. We received a great opportunity to visit one of the parents at his workplace, and he will present everything related to buildings. We’ll be traveling by bus (location: BTC area). We will begin at 08:20 and finish with all activities between 12:00 and 13:00. Snack, lunch and the afternoon programme will be organised as usual.

4M Science Day – Energy
On Thursday, February 7th, 4M students had a Science day. They conducted several experiments about magnetism, electricity, sound waves and static electricity. After investigating, for example, why a balloon sticks to a wall after being rubbed on someone’s hair or what is necessary for a light bulb to shine in an electrical cycle, students presented their posters.

MYP Winter Sports Day – Pokljuka
On Wednesday, 6th February, The MYP pupils had a winter Sports day in the mountainous Gorenjska region of northern Slovenia. Pokljuka, a world famous venue for Biathlon and cross country skiing, played host and served up a winter’s delight, consisting of sledging and, of course, the aforementioned skiing. The pupils and teachers alike reveled in the thrills and spills of sledging, and the grit, determination and skill, required to complete the cross country circuit, all set against the backdrop of a glorious sunlit landscape and an ocean blue sky. A new friend was also made with a long haired auburn dog named Ben. A wonderful winter’s day will be fondly remembered.

Erasmus Greece Diary – Day Three
There was some rain today, so we spent most of the day indoors. The sky cleared just for a time so the students could enjoy some sports activities outside. At the design workshop the students carried on with the planning of the 3D model of the Erasmus logo. There was another event that brightened the day, the birthday celebration of two students. Everyone sang, ate birthday cake. and exchanged gifts. The teachers also went for a guided tour through school.

Erasmus Greece Diary – Day Two
We dedicated the second day to a city tour of ancient Acropolis. First, we visited the Acropolis Museum where we had a quick look through the history of Acropolis. We also saw some ancient artifacts that were discovered in the area. Afterwards, we went to Acropolis where we saw the Odeon of Herodes ancient stone theatre, the gateway to Acropolis (Propylaea), the Temple of Athena and Parthenon. We also enjoyed the magnificent view of Athens from above. Our guide was very nice, and the students seemed to enjoy the trip very much. After visiting Acropolis, we ate some typical Greek food, souvlaki and pita giros.

1 & 2M Cultural Day – Kekec Ballet Performance
For our most recent cultural day, on Tuesday, 22nd January, 1 and 2m took a field trip to see the ballet “Kekec”. To start the day, we read the Slovenian children’s book as a class and compiled thoughts and questions about the upcoming performance. Together, we rode the city bus to the theatre. It was evident students were entertained by the performers, as they laughed and clapped throughout the ballet. When we arrived back in the classroom, we discussed our reviews on the performance and took our tickets home as a keepsake.
