Important Notice

Dear Parents,
we would like to keep our students safe so we will introduce some measures until the situation with coronavirus improves:
1. postpone all collapsed days which include travelling in Slovenia and abroad, travelling by public transportation in Ljubljana, and large group activities and events.
2. postpone all large events for students and parents in our school.
We will try to minimise disruption to teaching and learning and protect students and staff through everyday practices (e.g., encouraging hand hygiene, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, reduce close contact among students, avoid activities for larger groups, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects in the classrooms and common spaces in school, air classrooms, organise activities outside and promote a healthy lifestyle).
We will organise the March meetings for parents online.  The homeroom teachers or homeroom substitute teachers will send you the information they want to share with you and you can ask questions or give suggestions via e-mail. All the e-mail addresses of our teachers are on our website (http://en.os-danilekumar.si/contacts/). The MYP students will get their projected grades on Monday, 16 March as planned.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

WSC Workshop

On Friday afternoon, Danila Kumar International School hosted Aniket Godbole, our former student, now a two time national debate champion and currently best speaker in Europe. Additionally, as a past WSC alumnus, he was among the top 50 scholars and debaters at both, the Hanoi Globals and Tournament of Champions in 2017. Aniket prepared a 5-hour workshop on argumentation for experienced debaters. Students and mentors from four different schools (Osnovna šola Dravlje, Electrotechnical and Computer Technical School and Secondary School, Vector International Academy and Danila Kumar International School) joined in learning, debating and the exploration of the World Scholar’s Cup curriculum, as the World Scholar’s Cup Ljubljana Regional Round 2020 is approaching soon. The workshops were very intense and the pupils were not only able to share their experiences, but also to advance their debating skills to the next level, making them more prepared for their future public speaking performances. We would like to thank Aniket sincerely for this wonderful workshop and contribution to our school community.

MYP Cultural Day – Modern Tools for Language Learning

On Friday, 28th of February, the MYP students participated in variety of workshops in which they explored different modern methods for language learning, such as cooking with apps, mnemonic techniques, language apps and didactic games. The use of technology and games in the school environment can change the learning experience for the better because these tools offer students a fun-filled and relaxing learning atmosphere. The pupils finished their day with the reflection in the auditorium which was followed by a feast of delicious dishes prepared in the cooking workshop.

Anti Virus Measures

We would like to ask all parents to not send their children to the school with a cold, temperature or any other signs of infection.
Some measures have been introduced to prevent the spreading of any kind of viruses:
  • Our cleaners are disinfecting our facilities on a regular basis.
  • We air the classrooms, students have to wash their hands on a regular basis and sneeze into their upper sleeve.
  • Students spend main breaks and a lot of time during afternoon activities outside in school playgrounds.
  • Visitors and new students must provide certificates from Slovenian medical centres that they do not have any transmissible diseases, otherwise they cannot enter our school.
  • If students show any signs of illness (bad cold, temperature, sickness) they are sent home immediately.
  • We encourage our students to exercise, sleep a lot and have regular healthy meals to boost their immune systems.

3M Cultural Day – The Museum of Architecture and Design

Today, 3M were treated to a trip to MOA, The Museum of Architecture and Design. Our hosts first gave us a look at a scale model of the 500 year old home of the museum, and explained its various facets. Then we glimpsed back in time at numerous examples of different elements of design. This all proceeded the workshop, which related how the human body is similar to the design of various structures and bridges, while the students were utilised as pillars and tools of suspension. The pupils then became architects themselves and constructed a suspension bridge and a Roman aquaduct. On reflection, the pupils and teachers were much enlightened and thankful for their journey into architecture and design.
