Today we started the day by performing in the talent show, in which all 27 students participated, either by singing, dancing or playing an instrument. The performance was about Ljubljana and Slovenia and the whole auditorium was impressed by the beauty of our country. After this, it was time for the award ceremony where they found out the results of the competition. Our students achieved excellent results and we are all immensely proud of them.

Today our students took part in a cooking workshop where they prepared two dishes – rice noodles with beef and black pepper beef. They were surprised by how delicious the meals were and they were also very easy to prepare. After the workshops we went to a famous street to buy some souvenirs. In the evening, we all prepared our Slovenian stand at the Cultural Fair where the students promoted Slovenia by handing out traditional products and leaflets about our country. They also had the chance to find out more about all the other countries participating in the Global Round.

Our students took part in the Scholar’s Bowl where they had to work in groups and answer complex questions. They also all received their own Alpaca, the mascot of the competition. In the evening, however, they had a more relaxing event, the ball, where they danced and spent time with their new friends.

Today was the most important day for our students as the most competitive part of the event took place. They first participated in the scholar’s challenge, then wrote essays, and lastly, debated against teams from all over the world. Our students were well prepared and confident and did their best. Everyone was very excited and satisfied with their performance, although they are glad that the toughest part is behind them.

Today we woke up early to see the opening ceremony of the World Scholar’s Cup, the official start of the competition. The students received a very warm welcome and listened to an amazing keynote speaker, Alex Dang. He started performing poetry at 17 and has been a TEDx speaker several times. Later, the students were taken to an amusement park where they had to work in mixed groups to complete several challenges. They all had a lot of fun!
