Dear parents,

We are privileged to have had the conditions to implement remote learning in the current crisis, however, being housebound for our students requires displaying all the skills we teachers long for them to develop. Among these skills is student agency―the responsibility for a student’s own learning that empowers them to fully govern their learning experience. Content is just a vehicle to build the skills and attributes we wish to foster in our students. Developing these skills and attributes ensures that students will thrive in a world where change is constant and learning never stops.

In times of change there is opportunity for responsibility, productivity and creativity, the opportunity to develop confidence to try new strategies and explore new concepts and contexts for learning, and the opportunity for responsible participation. Students should be thinkers and reflective and take this time to better understand their strengths and weaknesses in order to support their learning and personal development.

And, furthermore, because you are more actively involved in the learning process now, you have a better understanding of your child’s needs and abilities.

IMPORTANT

If the MYP students are late with their work and complete their task one week after the deadline, our teachers will still accept it and asses it, nevertheless, the student must advise teachers of the situation. The teachers are very busy monitoring and assessing student work, and checking tasks from previous weeks on OneNote is very time consuming.

Best wishes,

Irena Šteblaj
