1M Police Visit – Road Safety

On Wednesday, 11th September, the 1st Graders went around the school to practice safety. We talked about the importance of our yellow scarves and why we wear them. A few local police officers visited our school to show us how to walk on the pavement, watch for traffic, look both ways before crossing, and to hold our hand up while crossing.

First Day of School

On Monday, the 1st of September, the 2019/20 school year began in the dome with an introduction by, first, Ms Irena Šteblaj, DKIS headmistress, then, Ms Mojca Mihelič, the headmistress of the whole School. They welcomed new students and parents to the school and the school’s community, along with those returning again. There was a very warm and vibrant atmosphere in the dome, which highlighted the mood of optimism and enthusiasm for the coming school year. After the welcome presentations, students found their new homeroom teachers and were escorted by their new teachers to their new classrooms for their very fist lesson of the new school year. A very successful first day! May it continue throughout the school year.

WSC – Beijing

Our last day was spent walking through Hutongs, the old part of Beijing, and we also rode with a rickshaw. We then visited the Lama Temple, saw many statues of Buddha and learnt more about this religion. Towards the evening we drove to the airport and boarded the plane for Slovenia. After a long flight we finally arrived in Ljubljana, and despite being tired it truly was an unforgettable experience and we are left with so many wonderful memories.
